Artist Brian Elstak wanted a large-sized embroidered badge of one of his designs. It was to be used as an invitation to his L.O.B.I. ARCADE exhibition. We transferred the richness in details and colours as meticulously as possible.

This is the invitation to the haute couture collection ‘Patchworks’ SS20. The invitation is hand embroidered in a cross stitch. The embroidery process was filmed and sent to the guests by way of invitation.
Knap in je mondkap, was one of the first suppliers of fashionable facemasks in March 2020. Rianne Mertens asked Het Borduurburo to collaborate on developing a luxury item embellished with embroidery.
From one design (approximately A3 size) we made various types of embroidery for jewellery artist Truike Verdegaal. For the collection ‘Creating Space’ 2021. We used different kinds of fabrics, from heavy kelim fabric to organza and finally we did lace embroidery as well. It is interesting to see how a single design can be embroidered in multiple ways, each time with a different outcome.

The Viktor & Rolf Haute Couture AW19 Spiritual Glamour collection consists of natural ingredients and plant-based fabrics combined with much handcraft. This holistic approach is illustrated through various embroidery techniques that have been implemented as abstract works of art. Viktor & Rolf’s feel and vision were brought to life through an intensive and enjoyable collaboration between Het Borduurburo and the studio.
“After our initial meeting it was immediately clear to us that we wanted to work with Het Borduurburo,” says Ana Montoya, designer for the high-end Dutch lingerie label Love Stories. “Martine arrived well prepared for our first meeting. She had brought along some samples she had made specially. We found them inspiring and they gave us the confidence that we could leave this large order for 400 pieces of embroidery in her capable and creative hands.”
“For the opera La Morte d’Orfeo, we needed someone at short notice, who could embroider an entire man’s suit with rhinestones. And we wanted it done in such a way that a particular colour pattern would emerge”, says Ton Joling, head of the hats department at the Dutch National Opera. “We prefer to keep everything in-house, so when we do have to outsource, we want to be one hundred per cent certain that that person has a feel for the handwork and the costume. We searched for a while and then found Martine. In her other work we not only recognised the refinement and taste, but also a sense of speed and focus in her embroidery. That’s when we knew we had found the right person.”

Lilian Driessen, the founder of fashion label Atelier Maria Lux, wanted to have a special historical piece restored. An antique and unique jacket was once completely put together by connecting small satin straps. Due to the wear and the transience of time, this fabric had become so fragile -not wearable anymore- that it was restored in a contemporary way.
In 2013 Bugaboo, high quality Dutch stroller brand, wanted to launch a new woolen blanket for their customers. There was an exclusive presentation during the International Wool Week in Amsterdam, at their concept store at Keizersgracht 500. To make the presentation even more special, hand embroidery initials were made on the spot for customers who bought the newly designed blanket.

Martine van 't Hul' was invited to design a room for the newly built fashion hotel, Hotel Modez, in Arnhem. I was assigned the theme “The Embroidery Room.”
The concept of the unfinished is deeply woven into the embroidery work of Van 't Hul’s graduate collection (MA Artez Institute of the Arts, 2002). Bold black floral contours on cream-colored backgrounds resemble aged paper, with only fragments filled in with vivid yellow, red, and green embroidery threads.
