The concept of the unfinished is deeply woven into the embroidery work of Van 't Hul’s graduate collection (MA Artez Institute of the Arts, 2002). Bold black floral contours on cream-colored backgrounds resemble aged paper, with only fragments filled in with vivid yellow, red, and green embroidery threads. Some flowers remain untouched—like a discarded page from a child’s coloring book, rescued and celebrated for its fragmented beauty. An innocence only revealed through the passage of time.
